Hustle announce drafted women’s players

Hustle can confirm the addition of three new players to our Women’s squad ahead of this summer’s The Fly competition.

Dylan Whittington, Bex Allies and Jane Lee have all been picked to play for Hustle through the women’s team draft, in which Hustle had the No.1 pick.

All three players have experience of playing lacrosse in tournaments worldwide, and Hustle are excited to see their daring, fast and fearless natures in action!

The three drafted players will be hoping to seize the moment with Hustle and make a mark on this year’s competition. Let’s take a look at how they line up.

Dylan Whittington:

Hustle’s first pick of the draft is England U23 squad goalkeeper, Dylan Whittington.

The right-handed shot-stopper, who communicates strongly from the back and holds strengths in her ability to help out-field, has competed at the 2019 World Cup Festival in Canada as well as at the Home Nations Sixes competition in 2021.

As well as her skills in goal, Whittington’s awareness and willingness to take risks when the game situation requires can prove to be a key asset for Hustle in The Fly.

Whittington, who has had trials with the British Lacrosse Sixes side, believes taking part in The Fly is the perfect ‘next step’ in her lacrosse career.

“I wanted to take part in The Fly as after watching the standard of play last year it made me want to push myself,” Whittington added.

“Also, seeing the friendships made was honestly amazing.”

Bex Ailles:

Hustle’s second addition, is England U23’s attacking two-way midfielder, Bex Ailles.

The attacker, whose strengths include a notable vision for feeds, has experience of playing in the New Zealand regional championships as well as being crowned 2019 Berkhamsted School National Champion.

Ailles, who is left-handed, is powerful, athletic and never gives up, making her highly coachable and a valuable player in her ability to adapt to match situations.

“I wanted to be a part of exciting development of the sixes game,” said Ailles.

“Watching it made me want to play this summer, and I have been adapting my training towards the sixes game so that I’m faster, more reactive and able to work harder all over the pitch.”

Jane Lee:

Hustle’s third pick holds an impressive portfolio in the sport, having twice played in World Cups and been captain in two of her four Asia Pacific Lacrosse Championship (ASPAC) showings with Korea.

The right-handed, experienced passing two-way midfielder, has a strong prowess in being aggressive towards goal.

Lee, who has experience of leading teams under pressure and at a high intensity, has the strength to dig deep and adapt to the game situation in order to influence opposition sides through her awareness and tactical implementation.

When asked about why she wanted to take part in The Fly 2022, Lee said: “To compete at an elite level with other talented players and to experience this new exciting format of the sport which is key to the development of lacrosse globally.”
